MOU concluded with MOU Concluded with CNIT, Italy
YRP R&D Promotion Committee and Yokosuka Telecom Research Park, Inc. concluded a memorandum of understanding for research cooperation with the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) of Italy on September 29, 2006. The signing ceremony took place in the venue of the 12 th Ka and Broadband Communications Conference (Note 1) held in Naples, Italy from September 27 to 29.
Dr. Shingo Ohmori, Vice President of YRP R&D Promotion Committee and of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), who was a participant in this conference, signed the MOU on behalf of YRP. Dr. Mitsutoshi Hatori, Chairman of YRP R&D Promotion Committee, and Mr. Ryoichi Kabaya, President of Yokosuka Telecom Research Park, Inc., who were unable to attend the ceremony, had signed the agreement in advance. On behalf of CNIT, Dr. Enrico Del Re, Director of CNIT and Professor of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Florence , signed the MOU.
CNIT is a non-profit consortium, consisting of 36 universities in the field of telecommunications and information technology in Italy . Established in 1995 and recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, CNIT aims to foster basic and applied research, to strengthen cooperation with industries, and to promote advanced education in the field of ICT. CNIT has two national laboratories in Naples and in Pisa , and research units at the member universities, with 31 employees, 80 project researchers, and approximately 1000 member university researchers. CNIT has the Director's Office in Florence , President's Office in Pisa , and Administrative Office in Parma .
Based on this MOU, YRP and CNIT will cooperate with each other in a wide range of activities, including the exchange of information and personnel, promotion of R&D collaborations, and marketing of developed technologies.
Note 1: Concurrently with the 12 th Ka and Broadband Communications Conference, the 4 th BroadSky Workshop was organized in cooperation with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology and YRP R&D Promotion Committee.
