About MOU Conclusion on Promoting Cooperation with Brest Science Park, France
Yokosuka Research Park concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Technopole Brest-Iroise, an IT-related science park in Brest, France. The signing ceremony was held in Tokyo on November 5, 2001. On behalf of Technopole Brest-Iroise,President Labbey attended the ceremony to sign the MOU.
Brest is a maritime city with the French naval port and facilities. The city also boasts the presence of research facilities on advanced telecommunications, and marine science and technology. Yokosuka has so much in common with Brest, which led both to go into partnership as sister cities in 1970. YRP and Technopole Brest-Iroise started their exchange activities based on this partnership. A cluster of companies and research institutions in Technopole Brest-Iroise have made a great contribution to standardization of communication systems in Europe. This is why we YRP have recognized the significance for us to promote cooperation with the research organizations in Technopole Brest-Iroise, and therefore we made a decision to conclude this MOU.
On behalf of Yokosuka Research Park supporting bodies, President Mitsutoshi Hatori of YRP R&D Committee, President Akio Motai of YRP Promotion Society, and President Hideo Sawada of Yokosuka Telecom Research Park, Inc. attended the ceremony to sign the MOU.
Technopole Brest-Iroise is the 2nd MOU signatory for YRP, following the 1st MOU conclusion with NOVI Science Park, Denmark, in January 2001. Yokosuka Research Park and Technopole Brest-Iroise will cooperate with each other in a wide range of activities including exchange of information and human resources, promoting joint researches, marketing of developed technologies, jointly organizing events, public relations, when deemed necessary.
